The Treatment

PiQo4 by Lumenis is a high-powered laser treatment device that treats scars no matter the area or skin tone. It achieves this by alternating between Nano and Picosecond pulses that penetrates scar tissue both on the surface and the depths of the skin. This allows it to remove all types of scars, including:

  • Keloid Scars
A result of an overly-aggressive healing response to an injury, keloid scars can last years, extend beyond the original injury, and eventually cause decreased mobility in the area. The hardened scar tissue may also be prominent and unsightly.
  • Contracture Scars
Scars caused by too much contraction over a small area. Common examples of these are burn scars and stretch marks. Severe cases may affect underlying fat, muscle, and skin.
  • Hypertrophic Scars
While similar to keloid scars, hypertrophic scars are limited to the wound area. These scars instead appear red and inflamed, and can cause distress to the patient. Common treatment options are steroid creams and silicone sheets, but deep hypertrophic scars need more specialized laser devices.
  • Acne Scars
Imperfectly healed acne or other skin blemishes often result in acne scars. They come in many forms, ranging from deep pits to wavelike scars, but they are also treatable with laser devices.

Cost

The cost of Laser Scar Removal starts at Php 5,000 on the body, and Php 15,000 – 25,000 on the face. The final price depends on the size, location, and type of scar.

The Laser Scar Repair Experience

The area around the scar will be thoroughly cleansed by your therapist. The wand of the PiQo4 device will fire several bursts of lasers that will break down even hardened scar tissue. After just one session, the scar will already be less prominent. Laser resurfacing may even cause the skin surrounding the scar to look younger and rejuvenated.

It is normal for your skin to appear red and inflamed. Multiple scar treatments are necessary for deeper, older, or larger scars. It typically takes six sessions to remove all signs of previous scars, but often results in complete healing of the scar and the surrounding skin, as well as the tissue underneath.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if I form a hypertrophic scar or keloid?

There are steroid creams that may help deal with these types of scars during their onset. Uncomfortable, older scars may be removed with plastic surgery or laser treatments.

How will the appearance of my scar change after the treatment?

It will fade and become less prominent against the skin. In addition, thanks to PiQo4’s ability to penetrate deep within the skin, any discomfort due to hardened tissue will also be treated.

Is there any cream that can be used for scar removal?

There are many available steroid creams or ointments that may prevent a scar from forming, but already-formed scars are much harder to treat without resorting to surgery or laser treatments.
